Tribute to Rocky Hall 27 April 2025
21 April 2025
It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Midway Life Member, Rocky Hall, who left us yesterday evening. As many club members echoed this morning, “We lost a legend last night.”Rocky’s connection to Midway ran deeper than the club itself. It lived in the countless bonds he formed with members here and across the country. He mentored generations through their lifeguard awards, was the unofficial head coach of Midway’s “learn to ski” program, and spent endless hours perched on the dunes teaching our members about the ever-changing Ackerman’s Drift.Rocky had a true passion for supporting and uplifting the young people of this community.
He had an unmatched ability to encourage, guide, and believe in the next generation — and countless Midway kids grew in confidence and skill under his watchful eye. His legacy will live on in the many young lives he helped shape.More than anything, we remember Rocky for his unwavering love of surf life saving at Midway. His legacy is etched into the spirit of Midway and the hearts of those who knew him.
To Jude — as they say, behind every great man is an even greater woman. You and your family are foremost in our thoughts during this time.Rest easy, Rock. Your Midway family will carry on your legacy from here.A memorial service to celebrate Rocky’s life will be held at the Midway Surf Life Saving Club at 11am on Sunday, 27 April 2025. All are welcome.
